Bath Climate Conversations: Climate Action Plan Update from the Maine Climate Council

Bath Climate Conversations: Climate Action Plan Update from the Maine Climate Council  Online

Learn from a representative of the Maine Climate Council about how the state’s Climate Action Plan is being implemented and about the five-year review updates and changes to the Climate Action Plan that were completed by the Maine Climate Council in November.  Maine created its first Climate Action Plan with ambitious goals and actions in 2019.  We’ll hear about what progress has been made toward goals, the actions that are most successful so far, and the path for actions for the future, and we’ll discuss ways our community can and is helping to work toward those goals.  Presented by Amalia Siegel, Maine Climate Council Coordinator, and Megan Mansfield-Pryor, Waste Management Climate Policy Advisor.

Maine created its first Climate Action Plan with ambitious goals and actions in 2020.  The state’s updated 2024 Climate Action Plan builds upon the 2020 Maine Won’t Wait plan to address the impacts of climate change on Maine, build resiliency to climate effects, and meet state statutory targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The plan is a culmination of work and feedback from over 200 working group and task force members, more than 1,000 survey responses, seven public meetings with 350+ participants, the University of Maine Mitchell Center’s work to engage with underrepresented people and communities, and the Maine Climate Council.

Bath Climate Conversations is a continuing series focused on learning, discussing, and connecting around ways to sustain and support our vibrant town as climate change occurs. Hosted by Bath Climate Action Commission in partnership with KELT and the Patten Free Library and presented in person and/or on Zoom.  Registration is required for Zoom only.
